Hunter-V-Tec trainee named Group Training Australia’s Trainee of the Year

Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) trainee Rebecca Connell has been named Australia’s Trainee of the Year at the National Group Training Awards held in Melbourne on Friday night.

The 20 year old from Rathmines is completing her traineeship through Hunter-V-Tec, HVTC’s Registered Training Organisation, and works for host employer Eraring Energy.

Hunter-V-Tec helps young people in Maitland and Port Stephens to try a trade

Hunter-V-Tec staff will be on hand to help more than 500 high school students from 14 Maitland and Port Stephens’ schools to try a trade as they begin to think about future careers at a special Try a Trade event at Maitland Showground on Friday September 2. Hunter Valley Training Company (HVTC) is again the major sponsor of this year’s event, which is organised by Worldskills Australia.

Train ride commemorates three historic occasions

Increased support delivered to Australian apprentices

The Mid-Year Economic and Fiscal Outlook (MYEFO) signals increased support for Australian apprentices as the Gillard Government continues to invest in the skills needed for a strengthening economy. From 1 January 2011, trade apprentices working in ‘skill shortage occupations’ will receive additional tax exempt bonuses of up to $1700 as they reach milestones during their training.
